EMAIL INTERVIEW WITH CONGRESSMAN JOE DONNELLY-IN
KATE:
Who is your favorite American Hero?
CONGRESSMAN DONNELLY:
President John Kennedy. He was an American war hero, he tried to achieve equal rights for everyone, and he believed that anyone who worked hard enough could see their dreams come true.
KATE:
What aspects of the Constitution are most relevant to the issues of today?
CONGRESSMAN DONNELLY:
The Preamble of our Constitution speaks to what our priorities should be: to form a more perfect Union, we must work with one another, no matter the political party. The only way we will establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, and promote the general Welfare is if we dedicate ourselves to put the well-being of American families above partisanship and political interests. That is why I support working with everyone to get things done to make life better for Indiana families. That is the way we will secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.
KATE’:
What event in history most speaks to you, and does it have if any impact to your philosophy and behavior in present day?
CONGRESSMAN DONNELLY:
The life of Jesus. He suffered and died for us, and no matter how imperfect we are, Jesus still gives us hope of salvation.
KATE:
What are the most positive things about America?
CONGRESSMAN DONNELLY:
America is the best country in the world because of the many freedoms we enjoy. I am proud to serve the people of Indiana as we seek to move our communities, state, and country forward.
WTK would like to thank Congressman Donnelly
Thank you, Elizabeth Shappell for arranging this interview for Kate.
