Jesus Has Risen : Exploring Easter Tradition & History

Luke 24 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen!

As we approach the magnificent occasion of Easter, an occasion of renewal and contemplation, it is necessary to examine the historical roots of this favorite holiday and its place in the fabric of American culture. At ‘We The Kids Inc.’, where we work to resuscitate the Constitution and history for both children and adults, we believe that understanding our country’s traditions deepens our appreciation for the ideals on which it was formed.

Easter, like our nation’s history, is rich in tradition and symbolism. It’s a time for families to gather and celebrate faith, hope, and resilience, all of which are strongly ingrained in the American spirit. Easter has always been associated with both Christian and pagan traditions. The Christian holiday remembers Jesus Christ’s resurrection, whereas the pagan festival of spring’s entrance symbolizes renewal and fertility. This collection of traditions represents the various tapestry of beliefs that have defined our country’s history.

Easter serves as a reminder of the significance of unity in the face of diversity, much as the Founding Fathers were inspired by a variety of sources while creating the Constitution. It emphasizes the essential principles of religious liberty and tolerance codified in our Constitution.

Furthermore, Easter has evolved into a representation of optimism and tenacity, traits that have characterized American history. Easter serves as a reminder that, with perseverance and faith, we are capable of overcoming any struggle, from the hardships of the Revolutionary War to the problems facing our country now.

This Easter season, while we celebrate the timeless ideals that have created our country’s history, let us also embrace the traditions that unite us. Let us make it our mission to preserve the freedom, equality, and justice that our forefathers so valiantly fought for.

‘We The Kids Inc.’ is committed to fostering a deeper appreciation for our nation’s history and heritage among present and future generations. Together, let’s continue to honor the past, embrace the present, and build a brighter future.

Wishing you all a blessed and joyous Easter!
