Have fun exploring the World of Britfield And The Lost Crown
CARYS: Hello, Carys ‘ere… I’m your We The Kids reporter ‘ere in London . Imagine you’re in an old library, surrounded by dusty books and flickering candles. You’re a group of children, curious about the world of literature and eager to learn. Suddenly, a gentle voice whispers to you from behind a shelf. It’s Charlotte Brontë!
CHARLOTTE BRONTE: (smiling)
Ah, dear children, I’m so glad you’re here. I know you’re curious about the world of books, and I’m happy to share some of my thoughts with you. You see, when I was a child, I loved to read and write. I would spend hours in my room, imagining stories and creating worlds. And as I grew older, I realized that I wanted to share those stories with others. What is your names? Special : I’m Mallory, I’m Jack, I’m Henry, my name is Merritt, I’m Afton, I’m Libby, and I’m Sami and I am Aliyah, Sami is my sister.
CHARLOTTE BRONTE: “Your reputation is being enhanced by the good opinions of others, I am pleased to say! I must confess, I am charmed to make your acquaintance! Ah, Miss Mallory, I’m so glad we’ve met. I’ve heard wonderful things about you!
MALLORY: Thank you Ms. Bronte! You wrote wonderful poetry and stories. My favorite was Jane Eyre but you wrote that story using a different name Currer Bell. Can I ask why?
CHARLOTTE BRONTE: Of course you can dear Mallory; I lived in a time in the early 1800’s when people didn’t understand that women could accomplish great things. I didn’t want my stories to be shunned because I was a woman. Who is the next one to be called upon? Ah yes, Ms. Afton .
AFTON: I remember Jane Eyre she was an orphan just like Tom. But her life was quite different. She knew her parents died. Jane became successful because she believed in herself. A good lesson for us all. Miss Bronte, What do you think makes a good story?
CHARLOTTE BRONTE: Ah, I see. You think it’s the adventure, the excitement, and the magical creatures. Those things make a story come alive. But for me, it’s not just about the plot or the characters. It’s about the emotions, the feelings that make us human.
You see, as a writer, I wanted to explore the world of emotions, to understand what makes us tick, what makes us happy, sad, and scared. And I think that’s what I hope to leave with you, dear children: a sense of wonder, a sense of curiosity, and a sense of empathy for others. Jack what is the story you are listening to?
JACK: We are listening too, Britfield and the Lost Crown. It is a story about Tom and orphan and his adventure to find his parents.
CHARLOTTE BRONTE: Ah, I love hearing about your favorite stories. Can you share what you have learned about this adventure so far. Aliyah what do you think?
ALIYAH: In the first story we learned that Tom, an orphan, just found out his parents might still be alive. Tom and his friend escaped from the orphanage.
MERRITT: The police are chasing them.
CHARLOTTE BRONTE: Sami go ahead dear!
SAMI: Then Tom and Sarah head towards London where they meet Philip a caretaker at Windsor Castle. Philip questions Tom who learns that the Britfield family might be his parents.
HENRY: Tom and Sarah stay at Windsor Castle. Philip thinks orphan Tom may be the missing Britfield heir and is determined to find out.
Tom overhears two people talking about Philip ordering the elimination of Tom, Sarah and Mr. Hainsworth who has been helping Tom and Sarah.
LIBBY: They escape just before the police could capture them. They land at Kings College and with the help of Dr. Beagleswick, Tom learns about the history of the Britfields. They hear the police and run again
CHARLOTTE BRONTE: What an adventure. I hope the children are successful and not harmed.
So tell me, my dear children, what do you think of the Britfield and the Lost Crown?
JACK: I am excited and can’t wait for the next chapter. Will Tom find his parents? Are his parents the true heir to the crown?
CHARLOTTE BRONTE: Wonderful. Most importantly, always remember that you have a unique voice, a unique perspective that no one else has. So don’t be afraid to share it with the world.
LIBBY: Do you have any advice for young writers like yourselves?
(Pause for the children to think and respond)
CHARLOTTE BRONTE: Ah, yes! Always remember that writing is a journey, not a destination. It’s a way to express yourself, to share your thoughts and feelings with others. And don’t be afraid to take risks, to try new things, and to experiment with different styles.
MERRITT: Thank you, Ms. Charlotte! Will you listen with us.
CHARLOTTE BRONTE: Ah, dear Merritt, of course I will. It’s I who should be thanking you. You’re the reason I write, the reason I shared my stories with the world. Keep reading, keep writing, and never stop dreaming!
