All kids attend business meetings. They all take being co-owners very serious.

We The Kids is based on  God’s principles without Him there is  nothing. Without Jesus Christ there is no hope!

We The Kids (WTK) grew out of a grandmother’s concern for the future of America and what her grandchildren would inherit.  Judy Lane, WTK founder, saw her 20+ year career in the RV transportation business evaporate before her eyes because of the 2008 recession.  It was at that time that Judy started a web site, much like millions of other concerned Americans were doing.  Her web site, however, was positive and non-political, not at all like the millions of other “homegrown” websites that were popping up all over the Internet at that time, each trying to be more controversial than the other.  It was at this time that one of Judy’s granddaughters asked, “What about us kids?” and the rest is history.  Which is what We The Kids is all about … history, that is.

We the Kids is dedicated to making it cool to be patriotic and to love American history.  Judy, grandmother of seven and mother of two, has put together a website and venue that highlights what most in the older generation yearn for … a return to patriotic values, respect for authentic and honest American history and a loyalty to America’s Founding Documents.

Reaching out to children of all ages and backgrounds, Judy has built a safe, exciting, patriotic and kid-friendly site, all from her dining room table.  And with the help of her ”kids”, of course.

Growing up on the East Coast, she was surrounded by our Country’s history. Even the neighbor whose farm nearly surrounded her home could boast having been deeded the farm by William Penn, as well as being the birthplace of Penn State University. As she got older she realized that the history was “alive” to her. Now she wants to give that to children nationwide.

I think it is very sad that people who become American citizens know more about our history and government than people who are born here.  It is important for us to teach our children about our history and government. They need to know the truth of our past, the good and the bad. The founders of this country were people from many different backgrounds and the one thing they all had in common was the quest to be free.  Our founding fathers risked their lives and fortunes to form this government so that we could be free. Kids need to know why our country has been such a beacon to the oppressed of the world. If we want our country to remain prosperous and free than we must teach our kids how our government was meant to run and that voting is one of the most important things we can do. The torch of freedom will not long stay lit if we don’t teach the next generation about our past.

Tricia Raymond is an Adviser with We The Kids.

Tricia often edits the history blogs written by We The Kids reporters.  She is the author of the children’s book, America’s Story: A Pictorial History of the Pledge of Allegiance.  Having grown up in and around New Orleans, history has always been a part of her life.  As a small child, her family lived in Jackson Barracks, built between 1832 and 1836, housing some of America’s greatest military leaders, such as P.G.T. Beauregard, Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant, and John Pershing.  As a teen, Tricia would ride her bike to where the Battle of New Orleans was fought.  So, delving into the history of the Pledge of Allegiance was a natural fit.  It was while homeschooling her children that Tricia developed a lesson about the history of the Pledge. Not able to find any books suitable for older children on the topic, she decided to write one herself.  America’s Story: A Pictorial History of the Pledge of Allegiance has sold nearly 1,000 copies through nothing more than word of mouth since she published it in 2007.

Today, Tricia speaks to local clubs and organizations about the history of the Pledge of Allegiance and is considered to be an expert on the topic. “I am so pleased to be a part of We The Kids, which encourages children to not only learn American history in their own backyards, but inspires them to be proud Americans as well ,” states Tricia.
